MARVEL COMICS PRESENT #8

"One Day at a Time" - Early December 1988

Writer: Sholly Fisch

Penciler: Javier Saltares

Inker: Chris Ivy

Story:
The story begins with Tony Stark addressing a group of Alcoholics Anonymous. He talks about how AA has helped him with his drinking trouble and also in "other ways too". He then begins to talk about "something that happened at work recently". As we all know, what Mister Stark considers work is parading around in this cool armor of his. Turns out that Tony was testing a new kind of generator he invented when things got a little bit out of hand. Instead of drawing static electricity from the air as it was supposed to, the generator pulled the electrical being known as Zzzax out of orbit and rematerialized him. For those of you who don't know him, Zzzax is an old enemy of the Hulk, a creature completely made of pure electricity. Well, before the day is out, Iron Man will succeed over the electrical monster, thanks to a valuable lesson he learned with AA.

What's cool:
Cool and entertaining story, good character development and the art is very good too. It's worth buying, especially if you miss that cool red and gold armor Tony designed for himself after he ditched the Silver Centurion model.

What's baaad:
As you've learned by now, nothing's ever perfect with me (most of the time anyways) ;-) Every issue of MCP features not one but four different stories, and it just so happens that the other stories in this issue are not very good at all. One features the Man-Thing (puh-lease) and another one the Masters of Kung-Fu (shoot me now). The fourth story is about Wolverine and that one is not too bad, it's written by Chris Claremont and drawn by John Buscema.

Quote:

"Hi. My name's Tony and I'm an alcoholic" (makes you appreciate how far the guy has come since his old dark drinking days, doesn't it?).
